You might be surprised about how many items may come in handy during your baby’s bath time. After lots of baths and trial and error, we’ve found some essentials that make the whole process easier for us and more enjoyable for our babies.
The Basics: Bathing Supplies
Baby skin is super sensitive, so using soft wash clothes and gentle wash/ shampoo is very important. Depending on if you have a bath tub or not, you can decide whether you need a bath seat or a baby bath tub.
Baby bathtub or bath seat: Angle Care Bath Seat; Sit up bath seat (once baby can sit up) *we have a bath tub so we did not need a separate baby one
Gentle baby wash & shampoo: Pipette; Cetaphil Baby; Honest
Wash clothes: Burts Bees Baby; Honest
Keeping Baby Comfortable & Safe
Safety is important to consider during bath time with your little one. You want to ensure the bath water isn’t too hot on your baby’s sensitive skin. Once they’re old enough to sit in the bath without a seat, the bathtub can be very slippery. The bath spout could also pose a safety concern. If you have an energetic toddler like me who loves bath time, all of these products help make it safer.
Bath Thermometer: Munchkin Duck; or they make ones with an exact temperature reading
Non-slip mat: Munchkin Soft Spot TM
Rinse cup: Skip Hop Bath Rinse MOBY
Bath Spout Cover: Skip Hop Bath Spout Cover MOBY
After-Bath Must-Haves
Another time to think about your baby’s sensitive skin when choosing towels and lotion. My daughters love to have their hair brushed, which also helps keep their hair detangled.
Soft towels: Cloud Island; Honest; Pillowfort
Baby Lotion: Pipette; Cetaphil Baby
Brush & comb: Safety 1st; Wet Brush (toddler)
Fun Extras
These products are not required for bath time but can make it fun for your baby. My daughter loves using foam letters and bath squirters. Most of the time, she ends up using her rinse cup as a toy.
Bath toys: Munchkin; Loulou Lollipop
Bubble bath (baby-safe): Honest
Cradle Cap Help
Both my daughters had cradle cap, and these two products helped a lot. I highly recommend them if your baby is struggling with cradle cap, too.
Cradle cap wash: Tubby Todd Bye Bye Cradle Cap
Cradle cap comb: Fridababy Derma Frida 3 Step Cradle Cap System
